Marcus R. Mickney, Of Counsel to the firm, has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications for mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies and the design arts. He also has experience in the preparation of patentability, validity and infringement opinions. Mr. Mickney represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office focusing on appeals and inter partes reexaminations. He serves domestic and international companies.
Mr. Mickney's specific areas of expertise include image-forming apparatus, lighting fixtures, electrical receptacles, brackets and portable communication apparatus.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Mickney was a mechanical engineer in the propulsion piping division at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. As a project leader, Mr. Mickney was in charge of a team decommissioning a nuclear tender. He was also involved in the preparation of overhaul requirements and test specifications for propulsion piping systems and associated equipment for ships arriving for overhaul. Mr. Mickney also served as an on-site representative at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for implementation of new overhaul procedures.
