Michael A. Bush, an associate of the firm, has considerable experience prosecuting and preparing patent applications for mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, including mechanical devices, hardware and software. Mr. Bush counsels his clients and renders opinions on matters related to patentability, infringement and prosecution strategy involving domestic and foreign patents. He also represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Bush’s areas of expertise include medical devices and methods, e.g., surgical devices and methods, drug delivery and injection devices, ophthalmic devices and MEMS fabrication thereof, diagnostic apparatuses, and medical packaging and sterilization; hard disk and optical disk drives; wireless telephones; printer devices; wheel bearing assemblies and rotation detecting devices; data organization, analysis and retention; online shopping; electronic music distribution; frame relay devices; optical network couplers; and network testing software and devices. He also has experience with consumer electronics including refrigerators, cooking devices and portable music players.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bush spent four years with another patent law firm where he prosecuted and prepared over 250 patent applications related to electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical and chemical technologies. Before that, he spent eight years at NORTEL Networks, the last four of which, he worked as a senior network engineer in the Materials & Manufacturing Network Services Division. Mr. Bush also worked for several years as a weapons systems engineer as a contractor to the Navy’s AEGIS Shipbuilding Division.
