History

Roylance, Abrams, Berdo & Goodman, L.L.P. was founded on the philosophy that the heart of intellectual property law lies in an unwavering support for the creative thinkers, artists, scientists and engineers that make innovation possible.

For the last 50 years, this philosophy has guided us as the firm has evolved with both the changing times and our clients' needs. Our focus and unwavering commitment to protect and defend our clients' IP assets, speaks volumes about who we are, and what we do.

  • In 1956, Don Roylance, an associate of Stone, Boyden & Mack, left the firm to start the Law Offices of D.C. Roylance based in Washington, D.C.
  • During the 1960's, Don expanded and formed an inter-city partnership with Tom Arnold in Houston, Texas, and renamed the firm Arnold & Roylance
  • The firm continued to expand throughout the sixties, adding expertise in chemical patents, patent interference and trademark matters, and the firm's name was changed to Arnold, Roylance, Krueger & DurkeeĀ
  • Over the next 13 years the firm continued to grow and change to meet client demand. In 1983 the firm changed to its present name, Roylance, Abrams, Berdo & Goodman.

To this day, Roylance, Abrams, Berdo & Goodman remains a boutique IP law firm, just as Don Roylance envisioned. While the people, name of the firm and technology has changed, our core philosophy of protecting innovation and defending clients' IP assets endures and is the focus of all we do.
