Press Release:  Roylance Abrams Continues to Expand

Washington, DC, March 14, 2008 — Roylance, Abrams, Berdo & Goodman, L.L.P., a highly specialized intellectual property law firm based in Washington, D.C., announced today they have hired four new associates and one patent agent.

Wonki Park joins the firm as an associate with significant experience in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent matters. His areas of expertise include matters related to the electrical and mechanical aspects of printers, facsimiles and copiers. He also has experience in handling electrical patent matters in the areas of semiconductors and control systems. On the mechanical side, his experience includes matters in the areas of air-jet looms, internal combustion engines, medical instruments, conveyors and nanotechnology. Park received his J.D. in 1991 from The University of Akron, School of Law. 

Rajiv S. Shah joins the firm as an associate with experience in preparation and prosecution matters involving domestic and foreign patent applications and U.S. trademark applications. His areas of expertise include biotechnology and chemical and mechanical technologies specifically related to medical devices, pharmaceutical compounds and synthesis, and organic and inorganic chemical arts. Shah received his J.D. in 2003 from The University of Maryland Law School.

Jason L. DeFrancesco joins the firm as an associate with experience in litigation, dispute resolution and shareholder agreements. His areas of expertise include matters related to chemical technology, particularly synthetic fertilizers in the agrochemical industry and turbine engine coatings. DeFrancesco received his J.D. in 2003 from Albany Law School.

Matteo D. Pedini
joins the firm as an associate with experience in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign electrical patents. His areas of expertise include matters related to telecommunications, particularly mobile and networking devices and digital media. He also handles matters in the electrical fields of micro-systems and circuits, including antenna and electromagnetic systems. Pedini received his J.D. in 2007 from The University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law.  

Harun M. Yimam joins the firm as a patent agent after serving as a patent examiner at the USPTO. He has significant experience in patent matters, specifically electrical patent applications including interactive video distribution, wireless communications, graphical user interfaces, printed circuit boards, access control and digital media. Yimam received his B.S.E.E. in 2003 from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
